London - Taylor Swift's Eras Tour is set to make its return to London this Thursday, marking the singer's first performances since authorities averted an attack targeting her Vienna shows. A crowd of tens of thousands is anticipated at Wembley Stadium for the event.
The Metropolitan Police of London informed CBS News on Tuesday that there have been no threats detected that would hinder the progression of the concerts in the UK capital.
"London is home to numerous high-profile events each year, attracting millions of visitors who enjoy a safe and pleasant experience.
The Met collaborates closely with venue security teams and other partners to ensure robust security and policing measures are in place," a Metropolitan Police spokesperson stated in a written communication to CBS News on Tuesday. "There is no indication that the ongoing investigation by Austrian authorities will affect upcoming events in London. As standard practice, we will continue to monitor any new information closely."
Wembley Stadium has advised fans without tickets to the five shows that they will not be permitted to congregate around the stadium during the performances.
"Security will disperse anyone loitering outside the stadium," the stadium announced on its official website.
Nick Aldworth, a former national coordinator for counterterrorism in the UK, suggested that law enforcement would be examining "any lingering or cross-border threat that exceeds their current threat assessment for these concerts and the broader entertainment sector" following the cancellation of the Vienna shows.
