When it comes to public displays of affection (PDA), celebrities like Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly or Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker often come to mind. However, Prince William and Princess Kate are rarely seen engaging in such behavior, despite their deep bond. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have shared a few tender moments over the years, but they seldom display physical contact during official royal appearances, even something as simple as holding hands.
So, what’s the reason behind this restraint?
Body language expert Darren Stanton explains that the lack of PDA between William and Kate is largely due to royal protocol, especially given William's position as next in line to the throne. "Kate and William play a very important role in the Royal family now as the Prince and Princess of Wales," Stanton states. "As they are preparing to become King and Queen themselves one day, they use and follow the traditional royal protocols of the late Queen.
"
This adherence to protocol means that the couple’s public behavior is carefully curated to maintain the decorum expected of their roles. Royal etiquette dictates that while on official duties, they should remain professional and reserved, avoiding overt displays of affection that might detract from their responsibilities.
