Since soaring to fame with “Jesus, Take the Wheel,” Carrie Underwood has consistently shared how her faith is integral to her identity.
This past Sunday (Aug. 11), Underwood took part in a worship session, joining forces with the worship team at Rolling Hills Community Church in Franklin, Tennessee. She and the team performed “The Goodness of God” by contemporary Christian worship group Bethel Worship, a song that includes vocals from Jenn Johnson and climbed to No.
15 on Billboard’s Hot Christian Songs chart in 2020.
The heartfelt worship track includes lines like, “From the moment that I wake up until I lay my head/ Oh I will sing of the goodness of God/ All my life you have been faithful/ And all my life you have been so, so good.”
Throughout her career, Underwood has frequently incorporated songs of faith, such as “Temporary Home” and the 2014 Grammy-winning track “Something in the Water.” In 2021, she released My Savior, a collection of traditional gospel hymns, which featured collaborations with artists like CeCe Winans on “Great Is Thy Faithfulness.

Regarding the album, Underwood expressed, “It’s been such a blessing to create music like this, music that inspires and is close to my heart.” The album debuted at both Billboard’s Top Country Albums and Top Christian Albums charts.
In addition to her solo work, Underwood has collaborated with Michael W. Smith on his 2014 album The Spirit of Christmas, singing “All Is Well,” and penned the original song “Sweet Baby Jesus” for her 2020 Christmas album My Gift.
She also lent her harmonious vocals to “Something Greater” on CCM artist Matthew West’s album All In.
