American rapper Travis Scott was detained in Paris for a second day on Saturday after being arrested following an altercation at a five-star hotel in the city. According to AFP, a source at the prosecutor’s office confirmed that the rapper’s custody had been extended.
On Friday, Paris prosecutors announced that police had been called to the George V hotel, where Scott was arrested for assaulting a security guard who was trying to separate him from his bodyguard.
A representative for Scott stated that his management team was in contact with Parisian authorities to quickly resolve the situation and would provide updates as necessary.
Despite the legal issues, Scott has been a frequent visitor to Paris and was present at the Olympic men’s basketball semi-finals in the city on Thursday night. He even shared a video of himself at the game on social media. Later, he posted images of himself at a Paris nightclub.
Scott, whose real name is Jacques Bermon Webster II, has had previous run-ins with the law in the United States, including an arrest in Miami Beach in June for trespassing and disorderly intoxication. Despite these incidents, he remains a successful songwriter and producer, with his album “Utopia” nominated for Best Rap Album at the 2023 Grammy Awards. Scott also has business partnerships with major brands like Nike, Epic Games, and McDonald’s.
He has two children with social media influencer and businesswoman Kylie Jenner.
