A Century Before Game of Thrones
In the new Game of Thrones spinoff, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, the first image from the series has revealed the new hero, Ser Duncan the Tall. This upcoming series, based on the Dunk and Egg novellas by George R.R. Martin, is set a century before Game of Thrones. It follows the adventures of Ser Duncan the Tall, a brave yet inexperienced knight, and his small squire, Egg. The series is expected to debut on HBO in 2025.
The First Look at Ser Duncan the Tall
The first image released by HBO gives fans a glimpse of Ser Duncan the Tall, the titular hero of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. Ser Duncan, also known as Dunk, is a hedge knight of humble origins who rises to prominence through his adventures because of his strong sense of honor and justice. He is exceptionally tall and physically imposing, but contrasts with his kind heart.
The Character of Ser Duncan the Tall
Dunk is defined by his strong sense of justice, constantly striving to live up to the ideals of knighthood, even in the face of moral dilemmas and personal risk. In Martin's first novella, The Hedge Knight, Dunk defends a puppeteer named Tanselle at the Ashford Tournament after she is attacked by the cruel Prince Aerion Targaryen.
