Carnival Queen Rihanna Dazzles in Barbados
On Aug. 5, Rihanna, the “Diamonds” artist, made a spectacular entrance at the Crop Over Festival in Barbados, clad in a custom, bejeweled outfit.
The event, the Grand Kadooment parade, took place in St. Michael. The 36-year-old star turned heads in gold and bronze gems and a matching headpiece, complementing her chestnut hair with blonde highlights.
Rihanna’s Carnival look was topped off with vibrant feathers, cascading from her shoulders to her legs, towering above her head.
Chlöe Bailey also partied at St. Lucia’s Carnival two weeks prior in a green and gold costume. Nicki Minaj is another regular at Trinidad’s festivities.
Rihanna, a frequent Crop Over attendee, last went in 2019 before the pandemic. She’s a mother of two, welcoming sons RZA and Riot with A$AP Rocky.
In 2019, she swapped jewels for a hot pink mini dress and pink feathers, with green eyeshadow and bantu knots. In 2017, she sported blue hair and pink jewels at the festival.
Rihanna’s 2015 Instagram posts featured dark green outfits, including a tender moment with a family member.
For the 2011 event, she wore a red two-piece with gold accents and a matching headpiece.
The Barbados Tourist Board describes Grand Kadooment Day as the Crop Over finale, with Masquerade Bands parading in sequined costumes, adorned with feathers, jewels, and bright colors, dancing to music truck beats.
